Alexis Cole

A dozen albums into her career, vocalist Alexis Cole is hitting her stride.  She’s the founder and director of the online educational community JazzVoice.com, and the artistic director of the Virginia Beach Vocal Jazz Summit. Her student Samara Joy won the 2023 Grammy for Best New Artist.  Alexis’ latest release Sky Blossom: Songs from My Tour of Duty reflects the repertoire created for her to sing with 18 piece big band during her time as the vocalist for the Army’s Jazz Knights. 2023 sees her touring the world with Both Sides of Joni, a reimagining of Joni Mitchell’s music. She leads a new generation of performers, inhabiting her individuality as a member of an international artistic community, and reconfiguring the identity of “jazz fusion” for our current moment. Alison gathered her eponymous Quartet, with Kevin Bernstein, keys, Marty Kenney, bass, and Horace Phillips, drums, in 2015. She writes most of the group’s music, and their soulful, groovy, melodic take on fusion found immediate acclaim in New York City, where they got their start.

Brazilian Jazz Brunch with Ben Rosenblum

Pianist, accordionist and composer Ben Rosenblum has traversed a truly unique musical path, one that has seen him perform alongside world-class musicians across more than twenty music genres and fifteen countries, lead bands at prestigious venues across the world, all while maintaining a signature, melodic musical voice. Rosenblum’s journey has taken him on tours with Grammy-winning pop artist Rickie Lee Jones and Juno-winning contemporary Indian singer Kiran Ahluwalia. His roots in jazz have led to an over ten-year relationship with Grammy-winning bassist Curtis Lundy, performing at festivals alongside jazz luminaries Bobby Watson, Sean Jones and Warren Wolf. He has appeared with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on accordion, and as a guest soloist on piano at Carnegie Hall’s Stern-Perelman Auditorium with Maestro Reona Ito’s New York Harmonic Band. Throughout it all, Rosenblum has always maintained the same priority - to tell a compelling story with his music, reaching the hearts of his audience and connecting on an emotional, intellectual and spiritual level.

Early Times is a nationally known musician as well as a radio host on SiriusXM. Early has toured the U.S. and Europe and was once awarded the Critics’ Choice as Best Guitarist in his hometown Sacramento’s music awards. His newest album Zodiac Griot is his first instrumental album and features many styles showcasing his seasoned guitar playing and mature compositions. Zodiac Griot features Adam Nussbaum on drums and Adam Scone on organ and follows the album Electric City which had several songs receiving major airplay. “Good Soul Music” featured 3-time Grammy winner Bobby Rush. Early Times & the High Rollers combine blues, jazz, soul, and other styles and showcase excellent musical skills and instantly catchy tunes.

Hailing from Porto Alegre in Southern Brazil but now based in Brooklyn, New York, jazz guitarist and composer Marcio Philomena creates music that reflects his experience as an international troubadour. After receiving a scholarship to Berklee College of Music to study guitar and production, he was selected as a semi-finalist in the Montreux Jazz Festival Guitar Competition 2013. Marcio has performed with names such as Nilson Matta, Helio Alves, Rafael Barata, Alex Kautz, John Ellis, and many others.

Hailing from New Haven CT, guitarist Ed Cherry has established himself as a beloved mainstay in the NYC scene through years of recording, worldwide live shows, and a style all his own with a warm, incredibly swinging and soulful bent. Ed moved to NY to play with Dizzy Gillespie from 1978 to 1992 performing in Gillespie's quartet, big band and with The United Nation Orchestra which recorded the Grammy Award-winning Live at Royal Festival Hall (Enja). With credits too numerous to mention here, Ed continues to work nationally and internationally; concerts, workshops & jazz clubs. RICH HINMAN VS ADAM LEVY *ALBUM RELEASE PARTY*

Rich Hinman vs Adam Levy is an instrumental quartet featuring Rich Hinman on pedal steel and lap steel, and Adam Levy on guitar. Having played together, on and off, for nearly 30 years, these two share a common musical language. Their repertoire of jazz, blues, country and soul songs ranges from standards to obscure numbers, and original tunes as well. Their New York-based rhythm section comprises Chris Morrissey on bass and Dan Rieser on drums. The quartet’s vibe is at once funky and atmospheric, festive and melancholy. Collectively, these four musicians have worked with K.D. Lang, Norah Jones, Mark Guiliana, Allen Toussaint, Rosanne Cash, Sara Bareilles and many many others. They released a record in 2019 called ‘VS’, which is available exclusively on Bandcamp. Their second record, ‘Fan Favorites’, comes out May 17. Please join us for this special album release party!!!
